The final resting place of a free Black soldier who played a pivotal role in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Peter Salem, born in 1750, was raised in slavery in Framingham, along with his mother. In 1775, he was temporarily freed from working on a farm to join his former owner's Framingham Minute Men. His bravery in the Battle of Bunker Hill made him a legend, but being a war hero didn't improve his life as a veteran. he died in 1816. Coordinates: 42.2971, -71.4291
